In October 2011, the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services ("Oregon") filed a Final Order To Cease and Desist And Order Assessing Civil Penalty against Consumer Debt Foundation ("CDF"). Based on the investigation, Oregon determined that CDF had engaged in acts or practices in violation of Oregon Revised Statutes. The violations include, but were not limited to: engaging in the business of debt management service without being registered in the state of Oregon and performing debt management services without first filing a bond to do business in Oregon, and for charging Oregon consumers a fee that exceeded $65 a month to receive debt management services.
The Final Order Orders CDF to Cease And Desist from violating any provision of the Oregon statutes regulating debt management services and assessing a Civil Penalty in the amount of $55,000. The Order became effective in December 2011.
