Bankruptcy fees

Date: 1/6/2021 9:09 PM (PST)

If Freedom Mortgage brought my loan from Mr. Cooper in February 2020. I filed bankruptcy in 2017 and was discharged in 2018, before F.M. obtained my loan. Does Freedom Mortgage have the right to bill me $1599.00 in December 2020 for fees they had to pay when they brought the loan back in Feb 2020.

Good Morning TyKayla. Thank you for your question. We have processed your complaint against Freedom Mortgage and are awaiting their response.

In addition to the complaint you filed with our office, I suggest filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”).

The CFPB is a government agency that keeps a watchful eye on banks, lenders and other financial companies: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

I can be reached directly at vantillon@checkbca.org if you have additional questions or concerns.
