I received a check from a company saying they were secret shopper committee I took the check to the bank like they said only find out that the check was a fraud

Keep in mind that if a company that you’ve never heard of before sends you a check to cash, there is always a catch. Mystery Shopper scams are not new, have been in circulation for some time now, and seem to have picked up some steam within the past month. The recent spike in activity can be attributed to the time of year.I am going to re-share some information and tips I included in an inquiry I responded to about the same topic.Take advantage of all the resources available to consumer today, Make phone calls, check the internet. The internet can be a valuable tool when researching a company or a service. More than ever, consumers like yourself are sharing their experience with others. I’m positive you’re not the only individual this company has reached out to and it’s possible that someone, somewhere may have already documented their experience with the company that contacted you.• Keep in mind that legitimate mystery shopper companies don’t charge people to work for them.• Beware of you are asked to wire money or deposit a check. • Beware of companies that guarantee a job as a mystery shopper or charge a fee to obtain access to mystery shopping opportunities.
