Date: 6/23/2014 8:42 AM (PST)

Is there a law or any type of cap of charges that tow companies can charge? Don's towing in the city of Harrisburg Pa charged 320.00 to tow vehicle less than a quarter of a mile

Hi Lesly, We received your complaint and it is being processed. You can view our report on the business here: http://www.businessconsumeralliance.org/report/dons-and-sons-towing-and-body-shop-132076371 Currently, we do not show any complaints for this company. Towing laws and regulations vary in each state. There are regulations in Pennsylvania that requires towers and towing storage facilities to post their hours of operation, fees and physical address. You can read more about the PA Towing and Towing Storage Facility Act here: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/li/uconsCheck.cfm?yr=2012&sessInd=0&act=110 In Pennsylvania, towing businesses need to be registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Transporation (PennDOT). You can contact PennDOT at http://www.dot.state.pa.us or call 800-932-4600 to check if the company is registered, and if there are any specific laws regarding a cap on fees or charges.

If you have any questions, you can reply to this thread or contact me directly at atingler@businessconsumeralliance.org Thank you.
