How my complain will be handled?

Date: 10/31/2018 12:24 PM (PST)

I would like to file a complaint on an insurance company (Geico) which has not represented me fairly and thoroughly for a claim. Will my complaint filed here be accelerated to the company’s upper managment or handled by a third party? In average, how long will it take the complaint like this one to be addressed and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction?

Regards,

Eveleen

Hi Eveleen. Thank you for your question. Regarding Geico, complaints sent from our office are addressed to Geico Headquarters and from there they are handled by their support team. Unfortunately, Geico has a poor track record of responding to complaints sent from our office. For your review, I am including a link to our Reputation Report on Geico: https://www.checkbca.org/report/geico-52725/reviews Under Complaint Experience, you can click on View Complaints, to review the types of complaints we have received against Geico. To file a complaint with BCA, click on this link: https://www.checkbca.org/filecomplaint.aspx?id=52725 The entire complaint process can take 20 business days.

I’m sure you’re aware that insurance is a regulated industry. In Washington, insurance companies are regulated through the Office of the Insurance Commissioner: https://www.insurance.wa.gov/ask-us-insurance-question I suggest contacting their office. They may be able to offer further assistance. Their telephone number is 800-562-6900.

Eveleen, again I thank you for your question. Please feel free to contact me directly at vantillon@checkbca.org if I can be of further assistance.
