Is this a scam?

Date: 11/22/2019 8:37 AM (PST)

I received a letter in the mail offering to work from home from this company. Is this legit? They want you to send money for them to send there supplies an agree to reimburse on every 9th paycheck. Just wondering if this is a scam?

Hello Karen. Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, in general, the work at home industry is an industry that garners a higher than normal number of complaints, so we always urge consumers to proceed with caution when considering a work at home opportunity. The company’s sales pitch will almost always include promises of good pay, flexible hours, easy work, but there is always a catch. The catch could be very well having to send money to pay for your own supplies with the promise that you’ll make your money back in no time…This is where the risk is…If it was truly this easy, then why are there not more people doing it?

On our website, we have many resources available for consumers to use. I am including a link to our resource guide on Work-At-Home Schemes: https://www.checkbca.org/tips/business-general/work-at-home-schemes-62 The guide contains tips and information that the average consumer may not be aware of and just may help you identify signs of a possible scam.

I hope this information is helpful. I can be reached directly at vantillon@checkbca.org if I can be of further assistance.
