Hi Donna. Postmates appears to be a relatively new start-up and app-based delivery business. Our report for the company shows they have a B rating and we do not have a lot of information about the company, including a contact phone number for customer or business inquiries. You can view our report here http://www.checkbca.org/report/postmates-156272481. The company appears to be based out of San Francisco, but offers various employment opportunities in several different states. You can search the internet for reviews from others who have worked for Postmates from employment sites such as Indeed - www.indeed.com/cmp/Postmates/reviews and Glassdoor - https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Postmates-Reviews-E620298.htm.

Since this is a mobile app business, check out our Mobile Apps Consumer Resource Guide for more information and tips on how mobile apps work http://www.checkbca.org/tips/personal/mobile-apps-241. There are Pros and Cons when working for any type of delivery service. Flexible hours, work/deliver close to home, and tips. However, some former employees of these types of businesses claim their wages are low, even below minimum wage, when they factor in the costs of the wear and tear on their personal vehicles and gas consumption. There are also reports of lack of support from management or inability to reach anyone from the company for help. In addition to researching the company, contact them directly with any questions or concerns you have before applying. Be cautious of any company that does not provide, or is hesitant on providing their contact information (phone numbers, email addresses) as this may be a sign you may have problems reaching someone after you become employed with them.

Donna, I would like to let you know about a new program developed exclusively for consumers called the Consumer Ally program. It was made for a community of consumers who share our mission of protecting people like you from being scammed by promoting first-rate business practices and warning other of scams. It's free to sign up, which you can do here: http://www.checkbca.org/consumer-ally. You can contact me at atingler@checkbca.org if you have any questions. Thank you.
