Life Insurance

Date: 6/17/2019 10:22 AM (PST)

I have been fighting with a life insurance company Motorists Life to pay a claim on my Late Mother. Only to be met with excuse after excuse First they needed a paper signed by me and a copy of my I.D. Which they got. Then it was the funeral home did not fill out the request right. Then it was they could not read the death certificate right. I am at my wits end to get this funeral paid for and pay off some of her debt.

Good Morning James. I’m sorry to hear of the problems you’ve encountered with the insurance company. If you feel you are getting the runaround from the company, you can file a complaint. The Motorists Insurance Group is headquartered in Ohio. As you know, insurance companies are regulated. In Ohio, the Department of Insurance accepts complaints against insurance companies or agents. Here is the link to file a complaint: https://www.insurance.ohio.gov/Consumer/OCS/Pages/ConsCompl.aspx

In addition, you can also file a complaint with Business Consumer Alliance (BCA). We’re happy to contact the insurance company on your behalf. We’ll ask that they address the allegations in your complaint. As soon as we receive a response, you will be contacted. Further action may be necessary, but hopefully the complaint will open up dialogue between you and the company. Filing a complaint with BCA is quick, simple, and FREE: https://www.checkbca.org/filecomplaint.aspx?id=153424784

I hope this information is helpful. I can be reached at vantillon@checkbca.org if you have any questions.
