How long should it take to recieve my refund my deposit for a vehicle??
Kevin, I suggest reviewing your contract. Whether a deposit is refundable, may depend on what’s written in the contract. Typically, deposits are non-refundable unless the contract or sales receipt specifically contains a refund policy. Florida has no cooling off period in which a buyer may voluntarily return the vehicle free of penalty and cancel the sales agreement. Once you sign, the vehicle is yours. If this was a used car purchase, there is no lemon law for used cars in the state of Florida. Returning a new car and canceling a deal would be at the dealer’s discretion. I recommend researching the laws in your state. Laws can vary state to state, and if possible you should familiarize yourself with these laws prior to making a major purchase such as buying a car or a home. The Florida Attorney General’s Consumer Protection is a good place to start: http://myfloridalegal.com/pages.nsf/Main/F3B16091AC8FBCCB85257F77004BE166Business Consumer Alliance does offer complaint mediation. We’ll contact the dealer on your behalf, present your complaint and proposed resolution. As soon as we hear back from the dealer, you will be contacted. The whole process can take up to 20 business days. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a resolution will be reached. Further action on your part may be necessary, but filing a complaint is a good first step: https://www.checkbca.org/file-complaintPlease contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need further assistance.
