Good Morning. Thank you for your question. You're wise to be cautious. Unfortunately, there are many scams floating around targeting consumers interested in receiving grants and loans so it's important as consumers that we take advantage of all the resources available to us in 2018! The internet is a good tool to use when researching a company. Conducting a simple Google search of the company name should direct you to any complaints or reviews posted online.
I'm including a link to our resource guide on Loans: https://www.checkbca.org/tips/loans Our resource guides contain a lot of hepful information that the average consumer may not be aware of.

https://www.grants.gov is a good access point for all federal grant-making agencies. You should never have to pay money to claim a free government grant and won't ask you to divulge your bank account information.

https://www.govloans.gov directs you to the loan information that best meets your needs. Whether it be a basic FHA Insured Home Mortgage or a rural housing loan, www.govloans.gov can help: https://www.govloans.gov/loans/browse-by-category/category/6

When you have a moment, please take a minute to scroll thru our website. We offer many other free consumer services that you may find helpful. In addition to Complaints and Dispute Resolution services and Resource Guides, we also offer Business Reports, Customer Reviews, and Scam Alerts. These services are provided FREE to the public. Here is the link to review these services https://www.checkbca.org/consumers.aspx. I would also like to let you know about our Consumer Ally program. It was made for a community of consumers, like yourself, who share our mission of protecting people like you from being scammed by promoting first-rate business practices and warning other of scams. It's free to sign up, which you can do here: http://www.checkbca.org/consumer-ally.

Please feel free to contact me directly at vantillon@checkbca.org if I can be of further assistance.
