Supposed "code upgrades" for a replacement hot water heater in a 23 year old single family dwelling.

Has anyone else had this happen them to them after filing a claim due either malfunction, leaking, etc.? My home is 23 years old & this was our original hot water heater. AHS said that we needed these "code upgrades" to the tune of $785 & after doing my due diligence & research I found out that one 1 of their supposed required code upgrades was all we actually needed which was a quick disconnect similar to that of which is on the HVAC & the HVAC outdoor unit. Note: *the main breaker panel is on the exterior of our home. I'm trying to make a decision as to whether or not I have a legitimate claim &/or if anyone else has been through this exact same situation. I am aware that the majority of these "code upgrades" apply to new construction only & my dwelling in 23 years of age.

A good way to research to see if other customers if the company are having similar issues is to go on the company’s social media, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, etc. Many times you will see posts from customers that have had a positive or negative experience and will share that experience on the company’s social media accounts.
