bought service insurance policy for car, engine failed, ins won't cover it

Hi, our bought a service insurance policy for our car thinking it would be great to have everything covered like they said on the phone. Well, the engine failed, they said its his fault, and they will not pay anything on it. it was a $3,200 policy, monthly payments still due for another 4 years. Their 1st inspector agreed with AAA that it was nothing our son did, however, they send out a second inspector who said it was his fault. We know its not his fault, and, he still owed for 4 more years on the ins policy!! Can you please help us??

Hello Mary. I’m sorry for the situation your son is in with the extended warranty company. Upon reviewing the company’s website, I see that they offer several plans. It is also noted on the website that coverage may vary state by state. Please have your son review the terms and conditions stated in his service agreement. The agreement should outline exactly what the plan covers. The same agreement should also have information on what their policy is when there is a disagreement over coverage.

I’m unsure exactly of the resolution your son is seeking. If he is looking to cancel the contract he will need to review the policy to find out whom to contact at the company and if there is a cancellation fee.

Please encourage your son to file a complaint. We’re happy to reach out to the business. We’ll ask that the company address the allegations in the complaint as well as the proposed resolution. As soon as we hear back from the company your son will be contacted. Please be aware that sometimes further action is necessary if the company refuses to address or ignore the complaint. Please note the complaint should be filed by the customer only, and not a third party to the complaint.
