Mortgage servicer has screwed up my escrows and now wants me to fix their mistake.

Date: 6/17/2020 5:05 PM (PST)

My mortgage was sold by one servicer to another. The 2nd servicer cut my escrows because of omitted information they didn't receive from servicer one. Servicer 2 first cut my payments, then put them back to where they should be because I called them wanting to understand my escrow situation. Now they are trying to charge me an extra $250/mo during a pandemic to make up for an escrow shortage. All I did was make my payments on time every month. The error here is between the two servicers. One didn't provide all the information and the second didn't verify they had all the information. THAT is the issue. The mistake on my account had absolutely ZERO to do with me. If these companies are too cheap to put an actual person in place to physically verify information is correct (or at least review anomalies) that isn't my fault. Their cost-saving measures come with known risk and this is that risk coming back to bite them. I want them to make it right without me having to pay the extra dollars to get it there. I'm all for paying my fair share but this is on them, not me. As insult to injury, I had to pay my HOI out of pocket for $800 because they didn't pay them. I was scheduled for cancellation and my agent called me so I had to pay on the spot. My question is, can the BCA help me?

Hello William. Thank you for your post. I see you have filed a complaint with us, and that is the right thing to do. To date, Rushmore has a good track record of responding to complaints submitted from our office. It’s our hope that the complaint will open up dialogue between the two of you and through our complaint mediation process a resolution will be reached that satisfies both parties. It still very early in the complaint process. The company will need time to review and research. As soon as we hear from them you will be contacted.

I can be reached directly at vantillon@checkbca.org if you have additional questions or concerns.
