Section 8 Scam

Date: 3/27/2021 1:32 AM (PST)

I recently bought a service after being scammed into believing that the website was a section 8 official website for the open list for Nevada. I promises to get me to the application but never does
Has anyone else had this experience?

Hello Connie. Unfortunately, this scam is not uncommon. The scammers entice victims with advertisements that have Section 8 and Equal Housing. They make promises of assistance by issuing vouchers through local government housing authorities. The next thing you know you've given them personal and financial information and they do nothing for you but take your money. What the scammers do not tell you is that there is often a waiting list for these vouchers and in some cases it can take years before your application is reviewed.

If you are interested in applying for Section 8, it is free to do so and there is no fee to apply. If a landlord is asking you to wire money to cover a security deposit or reservation fee don't do it. Reject any offer from someone selling a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher. The scammer may tell you that if you pay their fee you can skip the waiting list and jump to the front of the line and get your voucher. This claim is untrue. Once you pay the fee, the scammer vanishes and you're left with no money and no voucher.

I hope this information is helpful. Please contact me directly at if you have additional questions or concerns.
