BCA Scam Watch: infraHorse, ThermScan Diagnostics, and Jennifer Weems

infraHorse and its CEO, Jennifer Weems, have landed on the BCA Scam Watch list for failing to deliver orders. Customers who preordered items from infraHorse are in an uproar after waiting months to receive their expensive purchases but ending up with nothing but broken promises.

Customers were lured in with promises of discounts if they preordered the infraHorse thermal imaging diagnostic cameras and apps. When the time approached for the items to be shipped, customers received delay after delay as the company claimed items were on backorder, the infraHorse app had not been approved yet, or a number of other reasons why orders weren’t able to ship. Some customers paid for orders in early 2015 and received nothing but excuses and some promises of refunds that were never delivered.

If you search online for infraHorse, Jennifer Weems, or her former company, ThermScan Diagnostics, you will come across forums where customer stories mirror one another. Tales of placing orders, being strung along, and finally getting nothing from the company. Attempts to resolve the issues are often met with more unfulfilled promises and eventually communication is cut off completely. There is even a social media page set up with complaints regarding the scam. Unfortunately, because of the time that has elapsed, some customers are ineligible for reimbursement from PayPal or their credit card companies.

Jennifer Weems is not new to this scam. A complainant contacted BCA to file a complaint against her previous company, ThermScan Diagnostics. The complainant alleges paying $5,000 for a training course and thermal imaging camera, but received nothing. The details of the complaint are available.

Some consumers have stated Weems has moved on to the next product and launched infraHorse Revolution. If the past is any indication, the new product or service will be offered for presale.  As of the date of this publication, the infraHorse website is offering the infraHorse app for $29.95 and $365.00 for the infraHorse camera attachment and app combo.  BCA could not find a downloadable version of the infraHorse app on either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.  The website also has a YouTube video of the infraHorse app.  Note that the video was uploaded July 29, 2015 and to date, the app is not available for download. BCA urges caution if you are considering making a purchase. Check out the company before making any payment or commitment by getting a BCA report. If the company is not listed, submit their information for us to develop a report and seek information that can influence your buying decision. Visit the ThermScan Diagnostics BCA report for other tips and advice to assist you.

Typically, infraHorse/ThermScan customers paid for their purchase by PayPal or credit/debit card. When making a purchase, be mindful of the time restraints to file a claim should there be a problem with the purchase, such as nondelivery issues, or if the product is not living up to its advertised claims. PayPal allows for a dispute to be placed within 180 days of payment for the purchase. For more information on the process, log into your PayPal account on their Resolution Center page. For credit or debit card payments, check with your financial provider or banking institute for information on disputing a charge.
