Business Consumer Alliance urges consumers to be aware of a DMV scam operation being perpetrated by Global Digital Solutions, LLC. They operate multiple websites offering to streamline Department of Motor Vehicle Services. This company is not owned by or affiliated with any state or government agency but has fooled several customers into paying them to complete DMV services. BCA has received multiple complaints from consumers alleging the company deceptively charges to complete DMV services but fails to deliver services or refunds.
Consumers believe they are completing official DMV services on the company’s multiple websites, only to find out they are purchasing prefilled forms and instructions on completing driver’s license renewal, applications, and similar DMV services.
BCA advises consumers to be cautious when providing personal and sensitive information, especially online. Carefully review all terms and conditions before purchasing anything. The GDS websites viewed by BCA disclose their services are for informational and educational purposes and they do not have the authority to complete any State DMV services for the user. We were unable to locate an address for Global Digital Solutions, LLC or confirm their corporation filing. The company only offers a phone number, 866-821-8694, and an admin@ email address as contacts. The number appears to reach individuals outside of the U.S.
GDS websites ask for very sensitive personal data from users, such as social security number, date of birth, parents’ last names, and banking information. In other words, all the tools a thief needs to steal your identity and place you in financial danger. Recovering from identity theft is time-consuming and oftentimes expensive.
Contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles for forms and information on completing services. They will be able to provide the most accurate up-to-date information, answer any questions, and schedule appointments if needed.
You can report identity theft to the FTC by filing an Identity Theft Report. Reporting as much information as possible can help stop scammers and hackers out to commit fraud.
