RESPONSE: Refusing to make an adjustment Amount in Dispute: $433.20 Amount Settled: $0.00

Customer Complaint

On January 5, 2024, I accepted a quote from an Allstate Insurance agent in Aurora for "bundled" policies including my home and auto. The policies went into effect on February 3, and my credit card was charged prior to February 3 for the auto, and $1,854.97 for a 12-month home policy through February 3, 2025. On March 12th, I received an email from Allstate notifying me of a "policy change", and an additional premium due of $454.40. After numerous communications with the local agent, the additional charge was reduced to $433.20, and the reason for the additional charge was that Allstate increased the amount of the dwelling protection. From my perspective, all of these calculations should have been done prior to the policy taking effect on February 3. On April 2, I paid the additional premium of $433.20, because I don't want to go without coverage, but I don't believe it is reasonable for an insurance company (or any other company) to quote a price a month before the policy takes effect, accept payment, and then, more than a month after the policy takes effect (and when it is a little late to start the shopping process over again), to notify a customer of an additional charge that amounts to 23 more than the agreed upon price. I don't know of any other business that can get away without this type of business practice, and I have never had this experience in over 40 years of purchasing homeowners insurance. To me, this is a classic example of "bait and switch". Resolution Sought Refund the additional charge of $433.20.

Customer Rebuttal

The above response from Allstate just invites me to provide the same information I have provided before to their website. So, I have done so. I have heard from Nicole at Allstate based on my complaint to the Colorado Division of insurance, and she has informed me that I will hear back from them in late April. So, nothing has been resolved at this point.
