Customer Complaint

Solar panels were installed on 10/28/2021. However the Marin County building department has declined twice (12/2/21 &12/13/21) to sign off on the building permit. I have solar panels that I can't use! The issue is the service panel. The building department notified them prior to installation that the service panel would need to be replaced but the installation occurred without the service panel upgrade. It was only afterwards that I found out about this. After the second failed inspection the contractor stopped returning my calls. (I understand his point about specific code violation but if he wanted to make a point with the building department he should have gotten my "buy in", which I never would have given. Resolution Sought Upgrade the service panel in a manner that meets building department approval. Cost should only be for materials as I believe that if the upgrade had occurred at the time of installation it would have been less as there was already had a crew there.

We apologize for the inconvenience. I hope that you understand that the building requirement from Marin County is unique and a new stipulation forbidding new electrical work in Zinsco service panels. After Marin County refused our dispute we promptly revised our plans and submitted for the Main Panel Upgrade with your utility company and scheduled it for the first available date. Unfortunately, that date transpired while there was a state of emergency in El Dorado County where the utility power was down in a snowstorm, thus your MPU date was postponed by the PG&E. We have since installed a main service upgrade free of charge and passed your final inspection. We apologize for the inconvenience, however in reviewing the case I can only conclude that our staff performed with prompt forthrightness and did not charge for your Main Panel Upgrade. Thank you for being our customer.
