My wife and I hired Sharif Jackson, the sole proprietor of Media Wiring Solutions, to serve as our “low voltage” contractor for the remodel of our home. We had him install camera, entertainment and lighting-switch systems for us. The lighting system involved the installation of numerous multi-button switches. Each must be programmed. Some of the buttons Sharif programmed work properly. Others don’t. Sharif recommended that we purchase a particular security camera system, but after we purchased it he could not figure out how to get it fully functioning. Our entertainment system includes Apple TV, which Sharif installed. To operate it we found it necessary to first unplug and reconnect the device’s power cord. So Sharif’s work was shoddy and flawed across multiple installations. Aside from the defective installations, the mere act of working with Sharif was both difficult and frustrating. This is because he would often schedule dates to perform work for us that he would not keep. Worst of all, we made the mistake of paying Sharif in advance for work that had not yet been performed. (We had still expected him to resolve the earlier described installation defects). After we paid Sharif last October (2014) he cut off all communication with us and abandoned the job. Since then he has not returned any of my phone calls, e-mails, text-messages or correspondence sent by US mail. While it might be possible to excuse poor workmanship, the same cannot be said for a lack of integrity or character in the person you’re hiring. If you’re looking for a low-voltage contractor and are thinking of hiring Sharif’ Jackson’s Media Wiring Solutions, I urge you to keep looking.
