I purchased an auto insurance policy number 1N-PN 6655095 dated Dec 30 2023 and paid a down payment of 577$ and i found a much better offer from another insurance company and I called the general company to cancel my policy on Jan 3 2024 which is only 3 days worth of coverage, and I was shocked that I have only been refunded 9$ from my payment of 577$ due a hidden term I didn't know about called early termination discount which is not fair and never been heard of in all other auto insurance companies, I never seen this term highlighted in my policy whatsoever and it's unfair to pay 568$ for only 3 days worth of coverage and the term they mentioned on the call center upon cancelation is not to he found or highlighted in any documents between me and the general insurance company and that is totally against fair consumer laws. Resolution Sought I request a full refund of my insurance policy down payment of 577$ which Was canceled in only 3 days.

January 9, 2024 RE: Policy Number: PN 6655095 Dear Mr. Ebrahim: We received your review on the Business Consumer Alliance (BCA) website. I reviewed our files and offer the following response affirming the billing on your account was correct and all required notices regarding the Short Rate Fee for early termination were provided to you. Assessing a Short Rate Fee for early policy termination is common in the auto insurance industry and has been approved for use by the state of Pennsylvania. No breach of your consumer rights occurred; you were fully advised, in writing, of the Short Rate Fee on page seven (7) of the application you electronically signed, under section APPLICANT STATEMENT – READ BEFORE SIGNING and within your policy jacket (contract), on page twenty-four (24), under section Premium Refund Upon Cancellation. You were also advised verbally when you called to cancel that your refund would be only $9.49, as you were being assessed a Short Rate Fee for early policy termination. As such we are unable to address your statements that you were not notified of the Short Rate Fee prior to cancelling the policy. As an act of good faith, to resolve this matter to your satisfaction, we made an exception to our normal procedures by waiving the Short Rate Fee. We will issue you an additional refund in the amount of $518.07 within the next three (3) to five (5) business days which brings the total amount refunded to $527.56. You will not, however, be refunded your full down payment of $577.89 because you remain responsible for $50.33 in fees and premium associated with the three (3) days of coverage you were provided by our Company: $43.00 in premium, a fully earned Installment Fee of $7.00, and a pro-rated portion of the Policy Fee in the amount of $0.33.
