Engine work being complete on a vehicle

Date: 12/19/2018 9:09 AM (PST)

Hello

I have an issue with a company that did an engine conversion on a VW bus. Had the work completed on the bus from May 2017- October 2017. Immediately had issues, so I paid $1,030.00 more money of October 2017 to have some items change to make the it run correctly. I dropped the bus off to them August 2018 since they said it took a while to acquire the parts. They have had the bus for 4.75 months and no work has been done. I have asked for a refund and the bus back if they can't finish this in the next five weeks by February 1st of 2019.

I see that this is happening to others as well from this same company. They promise a time frame and don't deliver. How can I let people know they give time frames and don't even come close to their delivery times? Their web sites state four weeks and it takes 6 to 9 weeks.

Waylon, if you have not done so, I encourage you to file a complaint. We’re happy to contact the company on your behalf. We will present the allegations in your complaint to the company, and ask that they address. As soon as we receive a response from the company, you will be contacted. Further action may be necessary, but filing a complaint is the first step. In your post, you state that you want other consumers to be aware that the company does not honor their delivery times, you can do this by filing a complaint. On our website, complaint allegations are visible to the public.

Filing a complaint with BCA is quick, simple, and FREE: https://www.checkbca.org/file-complaint

In California, companies that provide automotive repair services are regulated by the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). If escalating the complaint is necessary, you should consider contacting the BAR.

Waylon, I hope this information is helpful. I hope you understand that you do have options and recourse. From the information you’ve shared, you have been extremely patient with the company, and I recommend taking action if they do not meet their February 1, 2019 deadline.

Please contact me directly at vantillon@checkbca.org if I can be of further assistance.
