LEFT MY CAR IN A AUTOSHOP FOR REGULAR OIL CHECK, 30 MINUTES LATER, THE SHOP CALLED ME TO TELL ME THE CAR CAUGHT IN FIRE

Date: 10/4/2019 9:08 AM (PST)

On Monday September 23th, 2019 at 4PM I left my car (Chrysler 300m 2004) at MG mechanic workshop located at 360 Laura Dr. Addison Ill 60101 . I bought it just for a check up, left the car at the shop, and few minutes later they called me from the shop , and told me my car caught on fire, which I couldn’t understand how that happened , when I was driving the car with no problems. I purchased the car from my former boss, about 3 months ago. When I returned the motor was completed damaged, no battery, and the owner told me he was no responsible for the damaged or will reimburse me for the car. When I left the car at 4pm , the car was parked inside the shop, when I returned it was outside in the sidewalk. The front tire was pressed against the street curve. I believe the shop is absolutely responsable for whatever happened. I have a video, the car still in the shop, and I have a police report.
I tried to reason with owner , but, was not successful at all.
How can I get help ? I need the autoshop to be responsable and pay for my car.
Thank you for your help. Christopher Campos

Hello Christopher. Thank you for contacting us. Per my research, I see that you’ve already filed a complaint against the repair facility and we are currently waiting for them to respond. In the event that the facility fails to respond, you will need to pursue further action. By further action, I mean filing a complaint with a State Consumer Protection Agency or you should consider consulting with an attorney to see what legal remedies you can pursue.

The Illinois Attorney General would be the Consumer Protection Agency to contact to file a complaint against a business in your state: http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/index.html The complaint can be filed online: https://ccformsubmission.ilattorneygeneral.net/

As of now, the repair facility is still within their timeframe to respond to your complaint. We will contact you as soon as we see that your complaint has generated activity that requires your attention.

Please feel free to contact me directly at vantillon@checkbca.org if you need further assistance.
