Travelers Beware Hyatt Recent Security Breach

hyatt

Hyatt Hotels recently announced a security breach that involved malware found on computers that operate the payment system for Hyatt managed locations. They are asking customers to monitor their card for suspicious activity.

Hyatt’s news release states they have strengthened the security of their systems while investigating the breach. While details on the investigation are scarce, updates will be posted on their website. In the meanwhile, Hyatt says customers can feel confident using payment cards at Hyatt hotels worldwide.

This security breach is one of many affecting corporations big and small worldwide. Most recently Safeway and V-Tech experienced attacks. Customers should make it a common habit to be on guard for unauthorized activity and unfamiliar charges. It has become more difficult for consumers to keep their information out of the hands of crooks, but being proactive and diligent can help you avoid becoming a victim of identity theft.

If your identity has been compromised, there are several helpful steps you can take. BCA’s Identity Theft guide has tips and resources to help identity theft victims and suggestions for keeping your information safe.
