    Do NOT Buy! Horrible Experience

    Posted on 5/16/2017

We purchased 6 kits of caterpillars for the Pre-school that I work at in March with a delivery for May 1-5. We had not received them by May 11 so we searched all over for a contact for them but no number was anywhere! I did finally get in touch with someone via FB to find out the status to see if they had already shipped. They said they would check into the order and within 10 minutes I received a tracking number. However, I was not given an option to tell them that we no longer wanted the order since it was 2 weeks late and the children would be out of school and not be able to enjoy the learning experience. When they arrived, almost half of the caterpillars were dead. When we told them we wanted a refund and would like to speak to them over the phone and return the product, they replied that they did not guarantee the delivery and when dealing with live cultures, delays can happen. Funny because we never received any contact from them regarding status, late shipping or shipping at all until I wrote to them.

I would ORDER FROM SOMEONE ELSE!!! We will never order from them again. Save your time and money.

    NEVER received caterpillars

    Posted on 5/14/2014

I ordered caterpillars for my kindergarten classroom and paid for them back in the fall. I selected April 28-May 2 as my delivery date and still have not received them. I have also emailed as there is no phone number and have not received a response. I am very upset and my kindergarteners are very disappointed. I will tell every teacher I know to never use this company!

Never Received Order...No Contact From Seller

    Posted on 5/2/2014

I ordered a set of eggs for my 2nd grade classroom to be delivered the middle of April during our insect unit. Now it is May 2nd and they are still not here...school is almost out! I have tried emailing (there is no phone number-how convenient). No response. I am a very unhappy customer and will spread the word about this awful business.

    Bad Buisness

    Posted on 11/22/2013

    Hello all,

I will never go through this woman again!!!! Once I bought the butterflies I had to email Suzanne to see when I would be receiving them in the mail. This was already a week after I made the purchase. When they came they were tiny little blue eggs, but I thought they would already come hatched. I was ok with that after reading the directions which said the eggs will hatch in 3 days. After a week passed I still had blue eggs in the container so I emailed her once again. I had to keep emailing her and after the last time which was like the 4th I finally received a response saying that I would receive more eggs by the end of the week. Now I work with small children and this was going to be one of our projects we would be working on. The children were all excited about this which made me upset because they had their hearts set on seeing the process of the catepillar to a butterfly. I did explain to her that my kids in my class was looking forward to this and that is when she informed me of more eggs by the end of the week. Week 2 has passed and still not eggs!!! So once again I sent her an email saying that if she did not have any intention of sending more eggs can I at least get my money back. Not only do I think she is unprofessional but I would be ashamed of taking people's money and at least not returning it.

SCAM- takes money and sends nothing unless you complain, if you complain she sends dead caterpillars

    Posted on 7/28/2013

It is never easy to admit when you have been fooled. In fact it is quite embarrassing. However, if we don't come forward and admit that we fell for a scam, then others may fall to the same fate. On that note, I'd like to advise all my readers to avoid doing business with Suzanne the self proclaimed "Butterfly Lady." Suzanne has been offering free butterfly eggs, larvae, and chrysalis to be shipped to your home and all you have to do is pay for shipping. Granted, the shipping is a bit high but it is still a lower cost than going through a more reputable site, such as Insect Lore. This deal seemed too good to be true but when I first came across the offer several months ago it seemed legit. Her Facebook page was full of happy customers and the only negative review I could find on Google was from someone who received their larvae a few weeks late. So I went ahead and placed an order. An order which was supposed to arrive over a month ago. An order which has never arrived. Suzanne has not responded to emails, Facebook messages, etc.. I did some Googling and found that in the past few weeks there has been a surge of negative reviews for the Butterfly Lady on Yelp. Several of the reviewers had been waiting months without contact from Suzanne. A few had butterfly larvae arrive, dead, only after placing complaints with PayPal and a third party mediation service. One reviewer said that Suzanne had gone as far as to send her an email threatening to go to the principal of the school the woman worked at if the customer did not retract their online complaint. I wanted to believe that this was simply a woman who did not anticipate the interest her offer would gather, someone who meant well but bit off more than they could chew. However upon reading these reviews, and having been blown off by Suzanne myself when I attempted to confront her, I can say without a doubt in my mind that this woman is a con artist. $10 may not seem like much but remember, when you steal $10 each from literally hundreds of people, you are making profit. Whats worse is that many of the people whom she is stealing from are low-paid public school teachers and homeschooling families on a budget. Beyond taking away money that could be spent on other learning experiences, she is disappointing children across the country. My own son was so excited when we ordered the butterfly larvae. He ran to the mail box with us everyday the week they were supposed to arrive. He was so disappointed when we sat him down and explained that they weren't coming. Next year I will be certain to order from a more reputable company, regardless of the costs. I urge others to spread this message, hopefully someone else will learn from my mistake.
