My kids where reprimanded for touching things foreign to them. But the security/awareness of the tanks and containers of the shop needs to be improved

My daughter, husband son and i went into the reptile shop today, it was our first time. Immediately we saw exotic venomous snakes one enclosure that housed the gaboon viper wasn't properly secure and the glass viewing window was open, I notified the owner which began to tell me it was locked brushed me off .my daughter picks up a container that was left on the floor thinking its empty, the lid falls off to reveal another female gaboon pit viper with a rat inside not properly put away, we scream in shock that's twice my children could have gotten struck by an animal that has no antidote, 7 minutes pass and he realizes I'm right closes the glass window and locks it. We notify him of the container on the ground that wasn't secure and proceeds to notice and keep the non secure container on the ground for other unsuspecting customers and children to walk around. Starting with locking the animals in proper enclosures.
