Very disappointed

I got the service for my mother and Im very disappointed with the program and the service provided. We met the 4 "M"'s and was told we did not meet the financial criteria and had to withdraw money every month from our/joint bank account to meet the financial criteria. My mother's total assets excluding SS was under $50,000. They told us we were "non-compliant" and had to terminate the agreement because the IRS/Treasury Department would garnish my wages and my mother's SS. Senior Helpers who they supplied us with aides was awful.

Hi David, Thank you for this opportunity to clear up any misunderstanding about how we provide home care and other services to our nation's heroes. Our clients typically qualify for VA benefits because they have paid certain medical or home care expenses which they can deduct from their income. These expenses must be documented. When VetAssist Program clients terminate our service, we advise them that cancelling may result in non-compliance with the VA unless the home care expense is replaced with another qualifying expense. The VA can require those who don't comply to pay back money they received. We hope this clears up any misconception about our VetAssist Program and wish you and your family all the best.
