Support your local businesses and help strengthen you communities and the economy this Saturday!
Saturday, November 30, 2013 is Small Business Saturday, an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In November 2010, American Express launched the Small Business Saturday campaign to encourage shoppers to patronize small and local businesses and support their services. Many businesses use this day to offer discounts and deals on products and services and to promote their business. In 2012, consumers spent some $5.5 billion dollars on Small Business Saturday.
Businesses Are You Ready?
If you are a business owner, visit the Business Consumer Alliance website and update your company’s storefront. Upload photos of your services and products, update your business hours and description, and obtain the custom dynamic seal for your website so your patrons can click through to view your report and write reviews about your company. BCA Members should update your storefront with current coupons and promotions. If your company is not listed, we will create a report for you. Simply fill out our online form for new businesses and you are on your way.
FedEx and USPS are among some of the corporations that support Small Business Saturday and they’re offering some free incentives to businesses planning to participate. FedEx is offering small businesses two professional-quality 11”x17” posters for free. Visit the FedEx website to select the nearest participating location, upload your Small Business Saturday poster, and follow the instructions provided. Terms and conditions apply. The United States Postal Service (USPS) is providing shipping of Shop Small branded merchandise orders placed on ShopSmall.com as well as Neighborhood Champion Activation Kits. Visit the Shop Small website for resources that can help you prepare for this big shopping day.
Shoppers Come Out and Support
Shoppers can search BCA’s directory of companies for local businesses to support. Also, let BCA know about your shopping experience and the deals you were able to find. Let the business know what you loved about the experience and maybe some advice on what would make your next visit more special.
American Express cardholders can take advantage of a $10 credit to your card by spending $10 or more on your American Express card at a qualifying business on Small Business Saturday. Card Members must register any eligible American Express Card for this offer at ShopSmall.com before 11:59 pm MST on November 30, 2013.
Small and local businesses are an important part of our communities and the economy. They create jobs and employment opportunities, boost the economy by generating revenue and paying taxes that help support schools, local police and fire departments, and help preserve neighborhoods. Go out and support your local businesses, especially on November 30, 2013.
