IKEA Provides Free Anchoring Kit as a Safety Precaution

ikea

IKEA North America, along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced a nationwide repair program that includes a free wall anchoring kit for various chests and dressers to address possible safety hazards. Over 27 million chests and dressers have been sold that pose a tip-over hazard if not properly anchored to the wall. This is after reports were received that two children died and others were injured when the chests tipped over and fell on them.

Consumers who purchased IKEA children’s chests and dressers taller than 23 1/2 inches and adult chests and dressers taller than 29 1/2 inches are urged to stop using them, unless they are securely anchored to the wall, and move them to storage until they can be properly anchored.

The free repair kit contains replacement tip-over restraints, complete wall anchoring hardware, instructions, and warning labels to be affixed to the furniture. To receive a free wall anchoring kit, visit an IKEA retail store, request it at IKEA’s Secure it webpage or call (888) 966-4532.
